More about Makwanpur
Makwanpur is
one of the seventy-five districts in Nepal, located southwest of
Kathmandu. It is situated between districts of Chitwan on the
west, Dhading and Kathmandu on the north, Kathmandu, Lalitpur,
Kabhre and Sindhuli on the east and Parsa, Bara and Rautahat on
the south. It is 2,426 km2 in size and has a
population of approximately 700,000. Hetauda is the headquarter
of Makwanpur district. It consists of hilly areas with the
highest point being Daman at 2,488 meters.
Located on the
East-West Highway, close to Kathmandu valley as well as the
border town of Birgunj, Makwanpur district is home to Nepalese
of vast ethnic, religious and economic diversity. It is rich in
natural resources, most of which remain untouched. From the
mountain view tower of Daman to the historical Makwanpur Gadhi;
from the rhododendrons of Simbhanjyang to the Bhutandevi temple
of Hetauda; this district provides something for everyone.
Although Hetauda is a
fairly modern town, neighboring villages are poor and hasn't
experienced much development and are still considered some of
the most remote villages in the country.
